Contact Voltage is Unseen and Unforgiving – Mitigate Risk in Underground Distribution Systems
Wednesday, October 11, 2023 | 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. EDT
Our webinars are eligible for IEEE PDH credit. To qualify, you must attend the webinar live and complete the IEEE evaluation we will provide following the event.
Mobile detection solutions provide utilities with intelligence and visibility into the health of their underground distribution systems and assets. Using a combination of cutting-edge electric field detection technologies and purpose-built data systems, technicians proactively scan utility systems and detect electrical faults before they can impact utilities.
Join us for a webinar to discuss implementing the IEEE 1695 Guide to Understanding, Diagnosing, and Mitigating Stray and Contact Voltage. In this webinar, you will learn:
- Causes of stray and contact voltage
- Mitigating public safety and system reliability concerns associated with contact voltage
- Implementing mobile contact voltage detection
- Importance of proper measurement techniques
About the Presenter: David Kalokitis - Chief of Technology
David is responsible for technology development at Osmose Utilities Services, primarily in the area of contact voltage detection and mitigation. His duties include management of all technical aspects of field operations, as well as the development and manufacture of devices and procedures germane to the detection of contact voltage. David spearheaded the development of the SVD2000 contact voltage detection system, which is the primary technology used by utilities for the detection of energized structures in the public landscape. This groundbreaking technology has detected over 200,000 contact voltage hazards in operations worldwide. David is a frequent lecturer on the issue of contact voltage. He was a founder of Power Survey Company (2006), initially as a division of Sarnoff Corporation, and acquired by Osmose in 2019.
