Utility Pole Assessment

The safety and longevity of your wood utility pole infrastructure is centered around a quality pole assessment program. Whether you’re starting a pole assessment program from scratch, or maintaining an existing program, we understand that every customer’s pole assessment needs can vary. We work with our customers to provide cost effective solutions based on geographies, climate, pole species, budget, and regulatory requirements.

Non-Destructive Pole Assessment

For utilities that prefer non-destructive pole assessment options, Osmose can offer some of the most advanced and accurate non-destructive technology in the industry. This method is also ideal for poles that are encased in concrete or asphalt. Paired with utility guided visual assessment criteria and photos, utilities are provided auditable reporting that ensures results can be validated and follow-up actions are defendable.

Advanced Analysis Software

Our advanced field collection and analysis software, specific to the resistance drill technology, can be tuned based on utility guidance to provide a more accurate and comprehensive assessment of the cross-section of the wood pole than other vendors or non-destructive testing options.

Increase Efficiency: Data analysis that reveals valuable insights that help foster best practices and improve process efficiency in the field

Reduce Risk: AI data analysis allows you to validate the accuracy of your data, increasing your compliance and reducing liability risks associated with bad data

Life Extension Through Remedial Pole Treatments

A wood utility pole’s original preservative treatment will begin to fall below protective levels over time, allowing wood destroying fungi and insects to advance. Ultimately, if left unchecked, these wood destroying organisms will reduce the original strength of the pole and shorten the in-service life of a valuable investment.

Our remedial pole treatment programs add life to poles where the original preservative are soon to be or no longer effective. We work directly with our customers to help determine the best types of treatments and the frequency of application, based on geography, climate, and pole species. A timely, industry proven pole treatment program can extend the life of in-service poles decades beyond originally expected service life.
