Putting a Lid on Pole Top Decay

When extending the life and structural resiliency of your pole assets, don’t forget the pole top. Wood pole tops are susceptible to degradation caused by decay, ultraviolet light, water, mechanical activities, chemicals, and temperature.

These factors degrade both the wood and the original wood preservative causing the wood to become weaker and more likely to be eroded by weathering.

Additionally, the tops of poles originally treated with pentachlorophenol or creosote are challenged most by preservative depletion via the force of gravity over time.

Fill out the form to learn more about the vulnerability of pole tops.
