About the Presenters

John Cancian is the Vice President of Asset Analytics for Osmose. John has over 20 years of experience putting analytics methods to use in a variety of engineering and business contexts. Earlier in his career, he led the command and telemetry team for the International Space Station. John was the Infrared Discipline Chief at Pratt & Whitney and most recently the Senior Manager, Decision Sciences at Cognilytics. John has a BS in Engineering from the University of Connecticut, an MS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota, an MS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford, and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Yale.

 

Chad Newton is the Director of Product Management - Wood Infrastructure at Osmose. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is active in the IEEE PES Overhead Lines Subcommittee, a member of ASC O5 which provides standards and dimensions for wood poles, and a member of AWPA. In his current role, he oversees the design, development, and implementation of Osmose's industry-leading wood pole inspection and restoration products and services, as well as provides support and guidance on products and services concerning strength and loading of wood poles.

 

Don Pitalo is the Vice President of Solutions Consulting for Osmose with over 20 years of experience as a business consultant with unique skills to show big data and predictive analytics to discover creative ways to dramatically improve both business processes and results. Currently, Don leads the Solutions Consulting team that provides direction and subject matter expertise in wood, steel, technical services, utility finance, and other relevant areas. Earlier in his career, he led national and international consulting efforts to drive efficiency and reduce business costs for telecommunications and utility customers.
