Storm Season Is Here

Learn the Role of Structural Resiliency in System Resiliency

The issue of system resiliency has garnered a lot of attention in the utility industry. Both electric and telecommunication utility companies have moved resiliency to the forefront of their key initiatives.

Resiliency is first measured by how robust an electrical/communication grid is to thereby minimize service outages in a major weather event. The second metric of resiliency is how quickly service is restored.

Wood Pole Structural Resiliency

When a wood pole fails during a major storm, more outages occur, and it takes longer and costs more to restore service. Retaining structural integrity and even upgrading structural resiliency does reduce pole failures in major weather events which lowers the time and cost of service restoration. Withstanding a high impact event and recovering quickly has utility companies re-thinking how to invest in their infrastructure.
