In recent years, Osmose has pursued many opportunities for diversification in specialized areas of wood preservation and related markets. A recent development occurred early in 2001, when Osmose acquired the Fernz Timber Protection Group from Nufarm Limited in Australia. The organizations of Fernz Timber Protection and Protim Solignum in Australia and New Zealand were merged and now trade as Osmose Australia and Osmose New Zealand. This addition to Osmose, Inc. significantly enhances the company's market position in AustralAsia and represents the most recent step to achieve growth objectives outside North America.
